Library films...

Nothing to do with CPD23 Things this time but I watched the film Hugo on the plane on the way over to Michigan yesterday. It included a sterling supporting role from Christopher Lee as an enigmatic and sagacious, librarian-type character called Monsieur Labisse (although technically, I suppose, he is credited as a book store owner):

This got me thinking again about films with libraries and/or librarians in them (..as I often do!). I managed to track down a fairly definitive list of films involving libraries in some way here which I found via a Huffington Post article entitled Librarians Save the Day! The Shawshank Redemption, The Breakfast Club and (of course) Ghostbusters are some of my favourites.

Meanwhile I've now managed to catch up on some sleep since the flight and am now all set to meet the some of the librarians at GVSU where I am currently staying. I'll have a look at Thing 3 later today.

  2. Nice list, like it. If you're interested in fiction with libraries there's a novella by Stephen King called The Library Policeman which I really like. Will also have to check out Hugo now. Cheers.
